A Really Good Idea
Have you ever had a good idea get a little out of hand?
A little while ago I decided it would be fun to teach sock knitting by way of making a little Christmas stocking. I set up the classes, and arranged for yarn kits, and realized I would need to have a pattern for my students to work.
So I started knitting sample stockings, and writing up a pattern…. And every time I knit another sample, I thought of something new and fun to add to it.
Contrasting heels and toes…
stripes…
single-row stripes…
…even options for all many different yarn weights and sizes of stocking. In the end, I wound up with a pattern that’s a little bit ambitious than I had originally planned. But it’s a great pattern, and it’ll be out this weekend. It’s chock-full of techniques and options … casting on invisibly for toe-up socks, single-row helical stripes, jogless multi-row stripes. shadow-wrap short rows, and built-on I-cord, to name a few.
The students in my Sock-ing Class are going to get to learn all these things, which I am really excited to teach them. If you want to take part, there are still a few spaces left, and you can sign up here.
For everyone else, keep your eyes peeled, and I’ll have the pattern available for purchase soon!
