Live and In Person

As much as I love that I can teach and spend time with all of you via Zoom, there is something really special about attending a live knitting event in person.

Events like last weekend’s Stitches West are some of the only places I get to meet up with my knitting friends in person. And it seems that every time I go, I make new friends. A person I know introduces me to someone they know, and soon we’re all sitting together, knitting and laughing and debating the merits of provisional cast-ons or the horrors of bouclé.

And there’s something really special about being able to walk around the classroom, admiring what my students are knitting and offering a word or two of direction to help them get back on track when they need it.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m incredibly grateful to be able to teach virtually, and I think that will always be a big part of my teaching practice. But there is a certain thing that only happens live, and I’m grateful every time I get to do it.

As usual, I forgot to take very many pictures last weekend. But here are some that I did get, including a group of students from my Ladderback Jaquard class who were terrific enough to get together for a shot.

The next in-person event for me will be Interweave Yarnfest in Loveland, Colorado April 12-15. I had a terrific time there last year and was pleased as punch to get to teach so many of you in person there. I’m excited to see some familiar faces there next month and meet a whole passel of new knitters as well.
