More About the Midwinter Cozy Cowlalong
As I mentioned last month, I’m going to host a Midwinter Cozy Cowlalong as my next KAL. It’ll run February 1-22, because I think February is a month that can always use a little help, don’t you?
No offense, February, but back when I lived where there was winter (meaning everything up until I was 27), February was the month when winter hit the hardest and seemed like it would never end. I know it’s got Valentine’s Day in there for a fun night out, and President’s Day for a day off (nice try there, February) but February always just seemed to drag on way longer than the meager 28 days awarded to it on the calendar.
Well, nothing makes the calendar fly for me like a knitting deadline, and nothing cheers up wintertime like the company of friends, so let’s combine both! I figure cowls are the perfect cozy little project for wintertime. And depending on how much of a challenge you want, you can keep it simple, or make it complex.
In my earlier post I talked about the various cowls I have published that are part of the Cowlalong. There are eight to choose from, so I’m confident you’ll be able to find something that’s the perfect project for you, whether you want to take on a new skill or just use up some stash yarn. There are cowls that use up little bits of leftovers, or ones that show off entire beautiful skeins.
Free Shipping
The best part? If you need some yarn (or just really want some), Morehouse Farm Merino is offering a code for free shipping on any of their yarn with code DEVIOUS. The code is good until the end of February, and it’s good on anything — so if you finish up your cowl and want to start another… just sayin’, you know, you can hit them up again!
Morehouse Farm’s 3-Strand Worsted is a favorite of mine. It’s the yarn I used for the Glenborough Cowl, Pâte à Choux shoulder cozy (not technically a cowl but close enough that if you want to knit it for the KAL I’ll allow it!). Pacifica, Shattered Shale, Powderbowl, Woodleaf, Perseveration, and BriLicious used different yarns for the samples, but they’re all worsted weight, so you could choose this yarn for a lot of these projects.
All The Details
The Midwinter Cozy Cowlalong runs from Feburary 1-22. You can follow along on Facebook (where we have a dedicated page), Ravelry (where we’ll have a dedicated group), and Instagram (where we’ll use the hashtag #CozyCowlalong). I can’t wait to start hearing about what you’re going to knit!
